Upsolve is hiring a VP of Content and SEO to help our team reach more low-income families who need our assistance. You'll be responsible for making Upsolve the #1 place on the internet for low-income families in debt. You'll conduct SEO research, determine what content we produce, and manage a 6-figure budget with a 15-person part-time writing staff. You'll also explore growth channels beyond SEO. Your job will be to 10x our site traffic from 1 million site visitors/year to 10 million site visitors/year.

Upsolve is an award-winning nonprofit that helps low-income families file for bankruptcy for free, using technology. In the last year, Upsolve has relieved over $50 million in debt for low-income families trapped in debt from medical bills, predatory loans, and layoffs. We combine the scale of tech startups with the quantifiable impact of the most effective nonprofits.

Upsolve is funded by Y Combinator, Eric Schmidt, and the Robin Hood Foundation. Our funders also include Jim Breyer, who led the Facebook Series A, Vinod Khosla, founder of Khosla Ventures and SUN Microsystems, and Chris Sacca, an early investor in Instagram, Facebook, and Uber.

In 2019, Fast Company named Upsolve World Changing Idea of the Year in Social Justice. In 2018, the New York Times gave Upsolve the Good Tech Award

The Role

Upsolve is hiring a VP of Content and SEO to help our team reach more low-income families who need our assistance. You'll be responsible for making Upsolve the #1 place on the internet for low-income families in crippling debt to learn about bankruptcy. You'll conduct SEO research, determine what content we produce, and manage a 6-figure budget with a 15-person part-time writing staff. Your job will be to 10x our site traffic from 1 million site visitors/year to 10 million site visitors/year.

This is a great role for anybody who is excited about building their operating experience, while increasing the reach of a product that transforms the lives of low-income families. You'll also get exposure to the private, public, and social sectors.

This position is based in New York City.

You’re a good fit if:

  • You have a track record of substantially growing traffic via SEO, Social Media, and other channels, ideally in the personal finance industry

  • You're obsessed with Upsolve's mission of helping low-income families in debt

  • You’re obsessed with metrics, graphs, and data-driven decision making and you're not afraid of writing a few lines of code

  • You can learn things very quickly and are highly organized

  • You have experience managing large teams and making sure they stick to deadlines

  • You love writing, editing, and research
