The Role

We are looking for a copy editor to simplify, improve, and proofread the articles our writers create. We're currently producing articles for lay audiences about bankruptcy, student loans, debt collection, foreclosure, repossession, creditor harassment, debt settlement, debt consolidation, etc. We need them to be as readable as possible.

You must have a proven track record of copy editing online educational content for lay audiences. We're looking for someone who can ensure that 100% of our content is easily digestible to regular people who have no background in consumer law or finance.

Copy Editors will work closely with our Managing Editor. This is a remote contract position.

You're a good fit if:

• You have a proven track record of copy editing articles for lay audiences on the web

• You have availability to copy edit 50+ articles/month

• You're very good at editing and writing about complex topics for a lay audience

• You're great at providing regular feedback and continued training to our writers

Requirements:

• Familiar with G-Suite, specifically, Google docs

• Detail-oriented with good interpersonal communications skills

• Must be able to write clearly and with good logic, and ensure that content has correct punctuation, grammar, and syntax

• Knowledge of Slack, Trello, Contentful and Clearscope a plus but not required
