Position Overview:
Upsolve is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to play a key role in developing and scaling innovative tools that help low-income Americans access debt relief and credit building resources. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will contribute significantly to the development of our AI-powered tools, primarily focused on making Chapter 7 bankruptcy more accessible while also helping users understand when other debt relief and credit rebuilding options might be appropriate for their unique financial situations.
You'll work closely with the engineering team and product leaders to implement technical solutions aligned with our mission, contribute to product development, ensure code quality, and build innovative features that make a tangible impact. This role is ideal for an experienced software engineer who is passionate about using technology for social good and excited to work in a fast-paced, mission-centered environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain features for our tools designed to help low-income Americans navigate Chapter 7 bankruptcy, as well as other debt relief and credit rebuilding options
Write high-quality, well-tested code while adhering to best practices and coding standards
Collaborate with other engineers to design and implement scalable solutions
Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and share knowledge
Work closely with product and design teams to define and implement new features
Help ensure data security, privacy, and compliance across technological initiatives
Contribute to technical architecture decisions and implementation strategies
Essential Qualifications:
Well-rounded individual contributor: 4+ years of experience in a software engineering role
Experience with frontend, backend, and infrastructure, with strength in at least one of these areas
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Strong technical leadership: champions code quality and modern development practices, is experienced in balancing feature delivery with craftsmanship, and uses data to inform decision-making
Bonus Qualifications (but not required):
Background in nonprofit or social enterprise work, with an understanding of mission-centered technology applications
Experience with developing financial or legal products
Experience with developing AI products
Experience mentoring junior engineers
Tech Stack Familiarity:
Typescript, Node, React, Postgres, AWS, OpenAI
Compensation:
$170,000 – $200,000
