Learn more about "Summons"

If you're sued, you'll receive a summons and complaint. The complaint outlines the allegations that the plaintiff is making against you. In a debt collection lawsuit, this usually means providing details about when you took out debt, when the last payment was made, and how much is currently owed.

The summons tells you the deadline to answer the complaint and other important information.
